Benjamin J. Chicka

Benjamin J. Chicka is Senior Lecturer of Philosophy and Religion at Curry College in Milton, MA. He is a philosophical theologian whose work connects classical American pragmatism, process theology, and ground-of-being theology. Such bridge building between supposedly incompatible positions reflects his conviction that intrareligious pluralism is as important as interreligious pluralism for the future of theology.

His most recent work touches upon media criticism and popular culture, which has led to speaking in front of audiences of video game fans and creators as much as fellow academics. This foray into pop culture is focused on how moves toward greater diversity and inclusion in the video game industry can inform theological ethics and conversations about pluralism. He can often be found at PAX East and other gaming conventions speaking about the importance of these issues.

Beyond philosophy and theology, Dr. Chicka has interdisciplinary training in the relationship between religion and science. He has also produced scholarly work on astronomy and neuroscience reflecting years of experience in labs during his graduate education.
