Gary Anderson – Profile
Gary (known as “GA”) has over 40 years’ experience in Olympic and professional sport, as an athlete, coach, scientist and Performance Director.
Up until September 2017 Gary headed up the British Bobsleigh Performance Program as Performance Director leading the sport through one of its most successful ever periods. Winning major international medals through two Olympic cycles including a bronze medal at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
Gary has coached at the highest level in track & field taking athletes to major championships throughout the world. He has worked with many Olympic Sports as a high-performance strategist and consultant.
He has worked and consulted in professional football as a sports scientist, conditioning coach and rehabilitation specialist he holds the prestigious FIFA Med Diploma in 1996 was awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award.
He has served on the management board of the UK’s Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme and is in his second term on the IBSF International Federation Sporting Commission.
Gary has worked for UK Sport the government agency for elite sport on two separate occasions managing programmes for coaches working with world class performers and on the Sport and Exercise Medicine Advisory Group.
He is one of the few performance directors to have led teams to both the summer and winter Olympic Games.
Gary has presented at conferences worldwide on the subject of performance planning and is a guest lecturer at leading UK Universities on training philosophy. He has also worked with major companies in team building and staff development using sporting models for increased production and optimal performance.
He has led sporting teams in competition and training camps throughout the world and his model of integration of multi-disciplinary teams into the high-performance process has been adopted widely.
He was consultant author on the book “Training to Succeed” published by Franklin-Watts. He was at the time a director of the leading performance training company elite-performance who managed international athletes from around the world.
Gary has appeared on several TV shows including the recent reality TV show “Beat the Star” where he was the coach to the celebrity athletes.
