Walter Beede

Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1981 (313th overall), former NCAA head coach, and guide to 700+ athletes and their families since 1987. Walter Beede has lived the game from every seat: player, coach, and parent. Selected in the 13th round of the 1981 MLB draft, he went on to coach at the college level, serving as an NCAA head coach, and in June 1987 he founded Coach Beede, helping more than 700 athletes and their families through player development and college recruiting.

Baseball runs in the family. His son Tyler Beede was a two-time first-round draft pick who starred at Vanderbilt and pitched in the major leagues for the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Walter writes practical, honest guides for baseball families, including The Process, The Recruiting Process, The Shift, Fun over Fear, Healthy Arms, Happy Kids, Arm Care Mastery, and The Mental Edge. He is also the author of the Sandlot Legacy novels (The Sandlot Promise, The Sandlot Legacy, and The Sandlot Spirit) and Dreams of The Sandlot, and the memoir There's an E at the End.
