Dr M. E. Awan is a practising orthoptist in Nottingham, UK. She graduated in 1996, from the University of Sheffield and was awarded her Ph.D in 2009 from the University of Leicester, UK.
She wrote this book with years of experience and research treating children diagnosed with a lazy eye condition, otherwise medically known as ‘amblyopia’. The most difficult part of treatment is the child’s cooperation; they can be distressed and anxious, as can their families. It’s hard for the child and the family to adopt a routine to treat at home, school/nursery or both. However, upon diagnosis, it is important to improve the vision in the lazy eye within their first decade of life.
Pirate Princess Rose is the Hero of Her Own Eye Treatment is the first book in this series – watch out for book two coming out in 2022 – and it’s designed to increase your child’s cooperation during the treatment of their lazy eye and make your child feel like she is the ‘hero’.
