O L Gilbert

O.L. Gilbert studied elementary education, music, and theology and is a retired nurse. Gilbert describes herself as an impassioned writer, optimistic visionary, and world changer who loves to compose words and use storytelling that can inspire, heal, entertain, and impact in positive and thought-provoking ways. She credits her mother, a former schoolteacher, and life experience as reasons for her love of words and storytelling. Gilbert believes writing is cathartic and that her inspiration comes through meditation and communing with Source/Divine intelligence (eternal consciousness) that transcends human comprehension or knowledge.

Gilbert is the author of "A Squirrel Named Little Rocket," an entertaining and easy to read children’s book that teaches perseverance, how to overcome obstacles, and the importance of embracing unique strengths and abilities. Gilbert's children's fantasy series, "The Color People," with eye-catching illustrations, will engage and delight children of all cultures. These universally appealing stories, that promote fellowship, respect, and embracing differences, embody Gilbert's steadfast vision--a dream where the innocent, the humble, and the kindhearted shall lead the way toward understanding, healing, and unity throughout the world.

Gilbert is the mother of one son. She has four stepchildren and three grandchildren and currently resides in rural NC with her husband and two dogs. Gilbert enjoys writing, drawing, and watching nature and science documentaries. When she takes a break from creative expression on paper, Gilbert enjoys tending her small vegetable and flower garden or creating make-believe worlds, like working on her model train layouts--activities that bring her joy and lots of creative inspiration.
