Matt Hartle

Matt Hartle is a science fiction author whose work spans dystopian young adult fiction and cyberpunk noir. His Bot Trilogy—Of Courage and Sacrifice, The Summer Winds of War, and A Silence So Mighty—follows teenagers fighting for survival in a world overrun by AI, exploring courage, friendship, and resistance. His Base City series—the Kirkus-reviewed The Magu Program and Halcyon Prime—plunges readers into a neon-drenched cyberpunk future of corporate power, human augmentation, and noir mystery.

Before fiction, Matt spent decades in Hollywood as a director, designer, and VFX artist, contributing to films including Harry Potter, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the Lionsgate logo. His cinematic eye shapes every page—readers describe his writing as vivid, visual, and fast-paced.

Matt lives in northern Montana with his wife, two children, and their dogs. When not writing, the family is outdoors—skiing, hiking, or exploring. He's also an award-winning short filmmaker (Agent).
