After seven years they moved back to Northern California and began careers in Christian school education. She began her career teaching first grade and music. In 2009 she received the American Heart Association’s Principal of the Year award for her work with Jump Rope for Heart.

She completed her Masters degree in Curriculum Development from University of Phoenix in order for her to improve her skills in creating classroom unit studies. She has participated in several conferences as a speaker, including NTTI and ACSI, as well as coauthored a science curriculum that is currently being used in private school worldwide. She has self-published a children’s book called Nathanial’s Family. Her Simple Cup of -Ty book was written as a tribute to her much loved cousin.

She retired from teaching in 2020 and has moved to the central Oregon coast. She can be contacted at bowtieshoes21@gmail.com. She and Andy are contemplating what book may be in the future.
