Martin Beyer, born in 1976 in Frankfurt am Main, lives as a freelance writer in Bamberg. When he is not working on his books or reading from them, he teaches prose in the Literary Writing and Cultural Journalism programme at the Faber-Castell Academy. He helps pupils to find and write down their stories; or he tries to convince them that poetry is something quite marvellous and not at all exhausting or difficult to grasp.
He has received numerous prizes and scholarships for his work, including the Walter Kempowski Prize and a scholarship from the German Literature Fund.
Martin Beyer's new novel ‘Elf ist eine gerade Zahl’ will be published in November 2025 - a touching mother-daughter story about a seriously ill child and the healing power of a Fairy tale.
