Robert Alvey

Rob Alvey is a writer from Long Island, NY who now lives in Fort Lauderdale after retiring as a geologist for the USEPA in Manhattan. That was in the Superfund Division. Rob was also a part time professor at York Cuny College in Jamaica Queens where he spent several years teaching in the evenings. He was highly regarded as a professor and was awarded a scholarship to travel to Nevada to visit the city Mark Twain lived in as a reporter.

Rob and his wife, Suzie, also raised three daughters and over the years Rob had short stories about his humorous efforts and failures to be the perfect daddy to them published in the local newspaper. During Covid, he spent time gathering them together and published the biographical book "The Rulebook for Perfect Daddyhood". He continues to write and is now writing a sequel tentatively named "Becoming a Floridiot After Retiring".

Believe it or not, Rob has also written several short children's stories about fantasy frog civilization. One is anticipated to be released for publication as soon as a cover illustration is completed.

One more book previously published is the book "Catching Twainitis Syndrome" about the humorous events when he was acting and looking like the famous author. Even Hal Holbrook said Rob looked more like Mark Twain that he did himself. Rob had performed as a humorous Mark Twain to many audiences, including on Broadway and the Friar's Club in NY. One story is about his visit to the actual Samuel Clemens graveyard in NY and when a visitor came up to him as he was standing by Mark Twain's grave. She gave his arm a tap and when Rob turned around she simply said, "The people who saw you by his grave thought it was actually Mark Twain's ghost. Now I can tell them they were wrong. You are actually alive."
