Sanjay Patel

I was born in Kampala, Uganda in 1964.

I grew up in Britain after the Ugandan Asian expulsion in 1972. I hadn't done well at school due to circumstances and walked away without qualifications. As I got older, I found myself in retail, where I started as a sales assistant and worked my way up to become a buyer. I left retail to start an exciting profession as a Financial Advisor while investing in properties.

My family and I moved to USA in 2006, where I found peace and stability. I took on a position as a loss mitigation specialist. As I turned 50, I wanted to be my own boss therefore I bought a business that suited my lifestyle.

During Covid 19, I wanted to make use of the free time, so I did what always wanted to do, and that was to become a realtor. I discovered painting by accident which I do for relaxing. My life long dream was to write a book about the Ugandan Asians and the after effect. I completed my book and now an author.
