Dr. Brenda Everett Mitchell Ph.D

Dr. Brenda Everett Mitchell is an Associate Professor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Speech Language Pathologist who is passionate about mentoring young adults. She is also a consultant in the School of Medicine at UNC-CH for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). She is an international communicator who regularly consults on DEI and student mentoring.

Her inspiration for writing Anthony's Adventures came after a trip to Malawi in 2019 when she met a one year old boy with albinism who reminded her of her oldest son with albinism. She understands the challenges that persons with albinism face and desires to educate children about this condition and help them understand the importance of treating others respectfully. Most importantly she wants to motivate marginalized individuals to overcome and celebrate their differences. We all have a superhero inside. We must believe that we are already winners to tap the source of our power to overcome!
