About Rose Cushing

Rose Cushing is an award-winning publisher, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and storyteller whose career has been dedicated to helping others find their voice and share their stories. Based in North Carolina, she is the founder and CEO of Cushing Publishing and Cushing Media, where she has spent nearly two decades creating opportunities for authors, filmmakers, and creative entrepreneurs.

A passionate advocate for writers, Rose founded Cushing Publishing to provide a true publishing partnership for both new and established authors. Her company offers professional editing, book design, publishing guidance, marketing education, and launch strategies, helping aspiring writers turn lifelong dreams into published works. She is also the author of the contemporary women's novel Chasing the Wind.

Before launching her publishing company, Rose built a successful career in journalism as an advertising director, photographer, and writer, contributing hundreds of articles and photographs to newspapers and regional publications throughout North Carolina.

Rose is widely recognized as a pioneer in equestrian media. She published North Carolina's first monthly equestrian magazine, which later expanded to serve readers across a ten-state region. She also hosted the state's first weekly equestrian television program for more than a decade and went on to produce additional equestrian television series that reached audiences in 42 countries.

Her passion for storytelling naturally evolved into documentary filmmaking, where she has earned multiple awards for films that preserve history, celebrate culture, and highlight remarkable people and communities. Whether through books, magazines, television, or film, Rose believes stories have the power to educate, inspire, and create lasting connections.

Beyond publishing and media, Rose is a certified life coach and an enthusiastic mentor to entrepreneurs, authors, and creatives. She is a frequent speaker at writers' conferences and literary events, encouraging others to pursue their dreams with confidence while championing a collaborative approach to publishing.

Her leadership and contributions have been recognized throughout North Carolina, including her nomination to the North Carolina Business Women Hall of Fame in 2020.

Today, Rose continues to expand her creative vision through Cushing Media's growing family of brands, including Cushing Publishing, Speaking of Writing magazine, Carolina Writers Speak, Today's Horsewoman, Today's Horseman, Southeast Hoofbeats, and A Half Moon Life.
