Doaa Alhawamdeh is a descendent of Palestinian refugees who migrated to New York City in the 90’s. From a young age, Doaa learned the stories of her ancestors, who were forced into concentration camps and suffered due to a lack of medical resources. She was deeply affected by the ongoing Palestinian struggle for Freedom, and at age 5, she swore a vow to assist and support her people when becoming an adult.
Fast forward to 2013, Doaa began her nursing journey at Eastern Florida State College. She successfully graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2019. During her college years, she was working as a phlebotomist and EMT full-time in order to support her family.
Doaa is currently a Travel Nurse living in Hollywood, CA. She is engaged to community-activist Karter Zaher, who’s creative work is aligned with her mission and vision.
Karter Zaher and Doaa have created “Muzzy”, an artistic brand that serves for community empowerment. One of the first projects launched under Muzzy is their book titled “My Magical Hijab”, which was written by the lovebirds during their honeymoon. My Magical Hijab introduces Mina, the Hijabi Superhero Doaa wished she had growing up.
