Before she jumped out of an airplane at 15,000 feet and earned her 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Christy Bowe,
a third generation Washingtonian was thrown out of Catholic School in the ninth grade. She briefly attended Montgomery
College of Rockville Maryland. Most of her education has been "on the job" with the exception of The University of Missouri Photo Workshop in Carthage Missouri.
Armed with no formal college degree, but an education in the wisdom of the world, she stepped out of her comfort zone and into the world of capturing news. Her instincts to find where trouble lies soon became an asset.
Christy is represented by Getty Images and Zuma Press. Her pictures have been published in Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal ,Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone as well as Wadsworth Publishing and McGraw Hill textbooks. Her work has also appeared on MTV and MSNBC.
Christy is currently a member of the White House Press Corps, The House and Senate Press Photographers Gallery, The White House Correspondents' Association ,The White House News Photographer's Association and the National Press Photographer's Association.
Bowe won first place in The Paris Photo Prize 2021 State of the World Competition for her coverage of the Insurrection at The U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
She has lectured at American University, Montgomery College and American University and has ten images preserved in the George W. Bush Presidential Library.
Christy is currently covering her fifth U.S. President, Joseph R. Biden.
