What’s in a life? Who are you? What made you who you are?
Those were the questions I asked myself when I hit my mid-fifties. Looking back, I saw I’d lived a varied life—and for the most part, a good one. Was I successful? Nah, probably not.
Did I have some adventures?
Did I have a good laugh along the way?

Based on my experiences growing up as a punk rocker called Skinner, The Cxnterbury Tales (four books) chart the slight rise and complete fall of my punk band, Virus V1. Savage Circle follows my wilderness years on a tough council estate, where I descended into petty crime. Circuit Riders is a homage to my years as a despatch rider in London, where—outside of music—I finally found a job I loved. Even then, though, the pull of petty criminality was still there.
