Robert Marsden is a freelance theatre director, an associate professor of acting and directing and was Head of Department of Media, Performance and Communication at Staffordshire University (2020-2024). His doctorate is in rehearsal practices.
He has worked in commercial and subsidised theatre in the UK and into Europe since 1999 directing Shakespeare, Jacobean and Spanish tragedy, Greek and Restoration comedy, verbatim and site-specific theatre, as well as many new writing pieces and numerous musicals.
Robert's specialisms are: rehearsal studies (including the theory and practice of acting and directing) and British pantomime.
