Newton Alex

Newton Alex was the Group Engineering Manager for several Azure Data Analytics projects in Microsoft, India. He led the teams that developed the Azure technologies like Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure HDInsight working deeply with open source projects like Apache YARN, Apache Spark, Apache Hive etc. He started his Big Data career with the early versions of Hadoop, PIG and Oozie while at Yahoo, USA, where he helped create the very first batch processing pipelines for Yahoo’s Ad serving team. After Yahoo, he led the Big Data teams at Pivotal Inc., USA, where he was responsible for the Open Source stack of Pivotal Inc. He later moved to Microsoft and started the Azure Data team in India. Newton now leads several Data Analytics teams at Google. He has helped several Fortune 500 companies to build their data systems in his career.
