Bobby Horecka

Bobby Horecka is a lifelong journalist, author and educator, who landed his first words in print while still in junior high and is still going strong three and a half decades later. He crafted a manuscript for a story collection as the final thesis for his MFA in creative writing (2018). That manuscript would eventually become Horecka's first book-length work of fiction, Long Gone & Lost: True Fictions & Other Lies, which debuted under the Madville Publishing label in March 2020, alongside another Madville story collection entitled, Runaway: An Anthology (Smith, Gills & Zacharias, 2020). A year later, Long Gone & Lost was named a finalist for the 2021 Sergio Troncoso Best First Book of Fiction Award given by the Texas institute of Letters. This year a story of his was also included in Madville's newest anthology, Wid Wind: Poems and stories inspired by the music of Roberert Earl Keen. He continues to plug away at his stories and poetry, living on the same farm he spent his boyhood, where he raises laying hens, vegetables and goats, while also serving as managing editor for five weekly South Texas newspapers.
