Hi, I’m Bex, Mental Health Advocate, Entrepreneur, Burnout Recoveree, and Founder of the Anti-Burnout Club.
Burnout – it sounds scary, doesn’t it? It also sounds like something you’d imagine some Wall Street trader to get in a movie, not something you’d experience yourself. I always thought burnout was reserved for people who weren’t like me… How wrong was I. By my mid-20s, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and cortisol levels (the stress hormone). My dad and his dad had both passed away from heart attacks at 60 and all of a sudden, I was scared… “That could be me.”
After my 30th birthday, I knew that I wanted to make some big changes in my life. And then, Covid hit. I watched as the whole world started working from home, finding it more and more difficult to shut off and leave work behind them. It wasn’t just me that was burning out, it was society as a whole.And so, The Anti-Burnout Club was born with a simple mission:
To offer a supportive, inclusive and accessible place for people to access all the expert guidance, tools and resources they need to thrive mentally and physically.
I have studied (and continue to study) various aspects of wellness, including Economics of Well-Being and Organisational Behaviour as part of an MBA, various mindfulness disciplines including MBSR and mindful mental health, and am currently studying positive psychology.
