Eric I. Karchmer

Eric I. Karchmer is a medical anthropologist, doctor of Chinese medicine, and a founding partner of the Chinese herbal medicine company DAO Labs. His research has focused on how postcolonial power inequalities have shaped the contemporary practice of Chinese medicine in mainland China, making it a uniquely hybrid form of medicine. He formerly taught at Appalachian State University and is now a member of the Anthropology Department at National Taiwan University. Eric has also been a licensed practitioner of Chinese medicine in the state of North Carolina for 25 years.
