Jonathan Evans

Jonathan grew up in the coalfields of northern Nottinghamshire where, as he says, being called Jonathan was an invitation to a daily scrap.

He took up writing in 2017 and has had over twenty stories featured on the BBC Upload programme.

His first book, “The Mystery of Ernie Taylor’s Abdomen and other stories” was published first as an audio book in 2018 and in 2019 as a paperback. This collection is based on his childhood. BBC Upload presenter Adam Crowther described it as follows: “..stories that are both comforting and humorous this collection will leave you feeling warm and nostalgic. Such a joy and a pleasure to read”.

In his twenties Jonathan travelled the world on a shoestring and lived for several years in Australia and is currently writing a novel, "Rainbow", about his life in an outback town facing economic decline. A further collection of short stories “Christmas at the Rum Jungle Hotel” is due to be published in early summer 2022.

In addition to writing, Jonathan’s interests include long distance running as well a plan to cycle from his front door to the shores of Asia.
