Joris Bas Backer

Joris Bas Backer is a Dutch comic artst and illustrator, working independently in short stories, documentary, autobiography and fiction. His work deals with the topics of longing, identity, and gender roles. Since achieving his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2003, Joris has lived in Berlin. He has published a collection of cartoons about parenting together with Nettmann, "Familienjuwelen", the coming-of-gender graphic novel, "Kisses For Jet" and many short stories on online platforms and in comic anthologies or zines.
