Jim Enright

- was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA.

- graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Biology.

- worked numerous summertime manual labor jobs during high school and college including: worked on a farm picking strawberries; worked as a construction laborer at Pittsburgh area schools and hospitals; cleaned up Three Rivers Stadium after Pirates baseball games; toiled as a night shift janitor in downtown Pittsburgh high-rise office buildings.

- after college worked on a millionaire's estate taking care of the gardens and greenhouse for a year.

- worked for the next 28 years as a Chemist in a Toxicology Laboratory testing race horses for drugs.

- in his early twenties became a long distance runner, a passion he worked at for the next 40+ years.

- with little natural talent, but lots of hard work, Jim ran marathons under 3 hours; qualified for, and ran the Boston Marathon.

- coached high school runners in Pittsburgh for 4 years while still working full time, and then after retirement as a Chemist coached runners in New Jersey for another 4 years.

- moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2009 where he currently resides and adores the high desert climate and beauty.

- besides writing, works part-time as a standardized patient at the local medical college, volunteers as an interpretive guide leading hikes in the local National Monuments, putters around in in his gardens most days, plays his banjo, photographs nature, hikes, walks or rides his bicycle most days, create wood carvings of animals, and travels to beautiful places for relaxation, enjoyment and inspiration for his writing.
