Ira Teller

For over 40 years, Ira made a lasting impact on the Motion Picture Industry; he began as a Hollywood Major Studio executive, then started his own Advertising agency, creating thousands of Movie Trailers, TV spots, newspaper ads and posters; he kept re-inventing himself and soon wrote, directed and produced more than 75 Behind-The-Scenes "Making Of" documentaries; his last role was as a UCLA instructor for a Marketing class helping Sundance Film Festival winners find distribution. Upon retirement, Ira began mining his experience to create several novels that satirize the movie business, while providing on location, fun house ride mysteries, featuring a character based on his own encounters with actors and filmmakers.

His first novel, "Master Of Disaster," was based on his experiences on the set of the movie, "The Crow," where he interviewed actor Brandon Lee, days before he was killed in a tragic accident, involving a live round loaded pistol.

In 2022, Ira published a memoir, entitled: "The Last Man Of Tomorrow: Or How I Became Marketing King of B Movies With An Assist From "Cleopatra," Barbra Streisand, Paul Newman, Stanley Kubrick...and The Mafia!" As it happens, he was the last person enrolled in a Twentieth Century Fox program entitled "Man of Tomorrow," which ended with the disastrous release of the movie "Cleopatra." Hence the title of his memoir. On display are many of his ad campaign posters, many award winning. Ira also recounts his involvement with many stars and directors, who put a personal stamp on his future. He also reveals, with candor, his association with two studios, Bryanston and Lorimar, with alleged connections to the Mafia.

His second novel, published by Amazon in 2023, "Blue Blood On The Red Carpet,"is a sequel to "Master Of Disaster." "Blue Blood" involves a phantom stalker, hell bent on revenge, attacking Major Studio executives.

Ira's newest novel, “SPYING, LYING AND LIONS: A Behind -The-Scenes Hollywood-South African Movie Mystery" ramps up the stakes, turning a dream, star-studded movie about a real life Russian spy into a deadly, time is running out, adventure. The protagonists of the past two novels must face enraged lions, survive a sabotaged mountain jump, escape anti-government protesters, battle Neo-Nazis and elude Russian and Mossad agents in order to save the production and their lives! It has an August 2024 publishing date, as an Amazon paperback and Kindle reader book.
