Eric Udd is President of Columbia Gorge Research, LLC and engineering firm dedicated to the development and application of fiber optic sensor technology. He has over 200 papers/presentations, 4 books, 54 issued US patents and has chaired 39 international conferences in the fiber optic sensor field. Eric has a BS in Math and Physics from UW in Seattle and an MSE from Princeton. Eric is a Fellow of McDonnell Douglas, SPIE and OSA. His technical books are strongly linked to courses he has taught over a 40 year period at UCLA, SPIE, OSA, companies and government groups. The books and Eric’s other published works are intended to help others widely apply fiber optic sensor technology. Examples of applications areas he has worked on include aerospace, defense, oil and gas, civil structures, medical and electric power. In addition to Eric’s technical works drafts of a guide to starting a small high tech business, and books of more general interest are in various stages of completion. He hopes these new efforts are as well received.
