Vincent Castell

Vincent Castell spent his entire career in the publishing industry, first in New York and later Ohio, then Florida. He owned sales publishing companies in Ohio and Florida until he retired in 2011.

Originally from Roslyn, New York, Vincent is the father of two daughters, Meredith and Carolyn, and has enjoyed the various dogs owned by both the family and more recently by his two daughters' families.

But Cubby was the most special dog of all.

When Caroline asked her parents to take care of Cubby while she moved to Chicago, Cubby wound up working his way into Castell's heart and became the subject of his book: Cubby, the Wonder Dog & His Secret.

"He was such a special rescue pet that his story had to be told," Castell said of his first book published in 2021.

Vincent also enjoys numerous activities as a resident of The Villages. He volunteers at St. Timothy's Church, Legion Golf Range, North Lake Presbyterian Food Pantry, UF Health The Villages Hospital, and is a neighborhood contact for use of AED. Additionally, Castell plays pickleball, golf and bridge.

Currently, he is in the process of writing a family memoir about his grandparents, and of forming a social club devoted to rescue pets from the Humane Society Animal Shelters.
