Henk Vlootman is a global-wide senior Power BI & Excel business consultant, speaker, writer, and trainer. Since 2013 Henk received the Microsoft Most Valued Professional (MVP) award in the category Excel and Data Platform, for his outstanding expertise and community leadership.
In 2018, together with Michiel Rozema (also a Data Platform MVP), Henk founded Quanto, Collective Analytics.
Quanto specializes in implementing Power BI / Power Platform solutions in medium and large organizations. In Quanto’s vision, the Business Intelligence discipline does not necessarily belong to the domain of ICT, but also belong to the Business domain. A close collaboration between business units and technical resources results in a collective analytics way of creating (business) insights and data-driven organizations, in which data contributes to the benefit of all parts of the organization. Quanto not only provides technical support, but also has project knowledge to handle medium to large scale Power BI / Power Platform implementations.
Henk & Michiel also organises the Power BI Summer School, an international yearly 3-days event about Power BI and surrounding apps on the Dutch beach. We also provide different open, in-company or online Power BI and Power Platform training courses.
The Power BI Gebruikersgroep (Power BI Usergroup, The Netherlands) was co-founded by Henk and he was chairman from 2018 - 2021. The PBIG organizes every year the Dutch Power BI UserDay. Henk took part in 4 users days (3 in-person events in the Jaarbeurs, Utrecht and 1 online event) The event on 2020 sold almost 900 tickets. Due to the Covid-19 crisis this event is postponed to 2022.
Henk is author of several Excel and Power Pivot / Power BI books. "Excel Modellen voor financieel economische informatie" (Noordhoff Uitgevers, 2007) and "Excelleren, de Vlootman methode in de praktijk" (Noordhoff Uitgevers, 2011).
Together with Michiel Rozema Henk wrote: "Praktijkboek PowerPivot in Excel" (Microsoft Press / Pearson, 2013) and "Handboek Power Pivot" (Vakmedianet, 2016). All those books are written in the Dutch language. Extreme DAX (Packt, 2022) is written in the English language.
Henk also wrote a chapter in Excel “Insights, a Microsoft MVP guide to the best parts of Excel” (Holy Macro! Books, 2020)
Until 2019 Henk wrote a monthly blog for Dutch financial e-magazines (FM / Alex van Groningen and CM / Vakmedianet . All these blogs were written in de Dutch language.
Since 1992 Henk has been working in business with Microsoft technology. It all started as a trainer / consultant in Excel. Henk specialised in structuring Excel models. Since 2010 Henk's area of expertise switched to Power BI. Recently Henk is involved in Power Platform projects.
Most of Henk’s ideas about enhancing workflows by using cutting edge technologies are based on working practices in business areas.
Being a consultant, mentor, and trainer, Henk has ample experiences in helping organizations building bridges towards modern data-driven decisions businesses.
