Penelope J. Corfield is a writer and lecturer on all themes to do with History and Time. Her special focus is upon the Georgians, who lived in Britain and Ireland between 1680 and 1840. And she is President of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. A retired Professor, she has academic links with Royal Holloway, University of London; and with the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Lastly, and persistently, she is an optimist.
