John Parnham was born in 1958, in Nottingham in England in the UK. He moved to Warwickshire in the 1980s. He came late to writing and didn't write seriously until he was in his early sixties. Before that, he taught drama to children for the Atherstone Theatre Workshop, now Act 1, for children aged 7-11 and also for Act 2 for young people aged 12—18. and wrote plays for the younger group to perform. It was from the playwriting that he discovered he had a talent for creating stories. He is still involved with the two groups mentioned.
He is a man of faith and is a Methodist lay preacher. He has also written sketches for the Atherstone Dramatic Society, of which he has been a member for approximately thirty-five years. His plays for children include The Fir Darrig After Dark, The Nightingale Princess, Pandora's Box, The Yellow Planet, The Trip and others. These are all unpublished. He converted The Nightingale Princess into a chapter book for younger readers, but this wasn't successful and is now under review. He wrote his first middle-grade novel, The World of All Things Lost, which is now published. Hide and Seek is his second book, and he hopes to write many more in the future. He is qualified as a teaching assistant and a carer. He has completed a creative writing course with the Shaw Academy and is aiming to take further courses in the future. His plan, when he officially retires, is to concentrate full-time as an author. His genre is middle grade, but he may write for younger children as well. He is a big fan of football and his team is Notts County FC. He is still an active member of ADS and enjoys acting. He was a part of two choirs, yet transport difficulties meant he had to stop. He enjoys cricket, classical music, books, and sketching.He is currently on the Ultimate Novel Writing Course curated by Jericho Writers and is writing a third Ellham Woods adventure as part of it.
