Pereowei Subai

Pereowei Subai holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the Newcastle University (2014), a Master of laws (LLM) from the Obafemi Awolowo University (2008), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Rivers State University (2002). He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law of the Niger Delta University, with which he has been engaged since 2004 and an Associate with E. Boma Peter Kio and Associates, a Port Harcourt Based firm with interests in corporate, oil and gas, property, and litigation matters.

He has research interests in energy and natural resources law, competition law, and corporate law. He has had extensive research and teaching experience, both at the Niger Delta University, Federal University Otuoke, and St Augustine University, Tanzania. He is also a member of several professional bodies, namely: the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. He has published widely in oil and gas law, corporate law, and labour law, and is the author of Local Content Oil and Gas Law in Africa: Lessons from Nigeria and Beyond (Routledge 2019), as well as Dr. Subai’s Principles of Nigerian Company Law: Part 1. Dr. Subai has also attended several conferences within Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and has presented several papers at the Universities of Bristol, Northumbria, Newcastle University, as well as Nigeria.
