After persuading his parents to buy him a sewing machine for his 16th birthday, Mike Aspinall quickly fell in love with sewing. Fast forward 5 years, he decided to launch a blog; The Crafty Gentleman. In the years that followed, this blog became one of the UK’s most popular DIY sites – attracting tens of thousands of visitors every month.
Over the years, Mike has collaborated with many major brands – Etsy, Hobbycraft, Pinterest, Singer, Cricut, Brother and more. His work has been featured across the BBC, Channel 4, The Guardian, The Telegraph and NBC. It’s even opened up doors for him to work with celebrities like Kirstie Allsopp, Debbie McGee and Keith Brymer-Jones.
As well as running his blog, Mike regularly talks at craft events across the UK and internationally. He has also appeared on multiple Channel 4 craft shows, and spent several years as a guest presenter on the craft television channel Hochanda.
Through his blog, Mike continues to shares DIY projects ranging from sewing and paper-craft, to woodwork and knitting – and everything in between.
Above all, what Mike loves is sharing his enthusiasm for DIY. He passionately believes in the benefits of crafting and strives to make it open and accessible to everyone.
