Aris Roberts

I am Aris Roberts a 16 year old writer from Virginia where I have recently written a children's picture book titled, Bizzy's Wings.

I got into the journey of bee keeping 3 years ago where I began taking care of 16 hives -- 1million bees roughly, and from then have grown to a 24 hive apiary. Bizzy's Wings is a story which focuses on the main character "Bizzy" and her journey to being accepted in her bee hive for not having the same wings as her sister and brother bees. She starts as being ashamed and picked on to saving her whole colony through fearlessness and bravery even though she may have it harder than the others. I got inspiration to write this book after learning about "deformed wing syndrome" in bees which leads to bees being left out. I thought that most people could relate to a moment in their life where they felt left out and wrote a children's story that I hope can reach a wide audience of children who have a passion for insects, and specifically bees.
