I've been making up stories since I was a child in the sixties, growing up in Leith, the eldest of five. I'd make up bedtime stories about a wee boy called Binnie for my siblings and they were an appreciative audience. Married in our teens, my husband, David, and I moved to Orkney in the late 70's where we brought up our three children and where we still live today. When my niece, Lillie, was turning one I asked my sister what I should get for her birthday. My sister said, 'Write her a book!'. which I did. That was in 1998 and, I got our son, Devo, to illustrate it. I gave the manuscript to Lillie and that was that. Or so I thought. In February, 2021, during lockdown, I decided I'd like to publish the book. My husband and I are great believers in the 'bucket list' so he strongly urged me to do it! Our son, Devo, brushed up and added to the illustrations, and his lovely partner, Erin, digitised and coloured the illustrations. And so 'Lillie's Special Day' became available as my 'first' published book in February 2022.

Then, another sister suggested I write some Binnie stories, so I have written the Binnie book and it was published at the end of 2022. I really hope you like it. This time, because it is for an older audience, I used Lorraine Bruce, a local artist, for my illustrations. I couldn't be happier!
