David Robert Wooten

David Robert Wooten was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and is proud to call it home, no matter where he lives. He has lived in several places, some far less satisfying than others, always for work. Someday he will live somewhere for enjoyment. He majored in Ancient Near Eastern History, and therefore has absolutely no marketable degree whatever. He has sold shoes, men's suits, ice cream, hobbies & models (not the pretty kind), ceiling fans, portable lighting, remanufactured beverage equipment, real estate, and building materials.

Relatively retired, he now focuses on graphic design, as well as publishing and writing innumerable newsletters, journals, and books. He is the author of WE ALL BECOME FOREFATHERS (1993), DESCENDANTS OF JOHIAS WHITAKER (2005), DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS WATTON (2005), and DESCENDANTS OF EDWARD BOYKIN (2005). He also produced AMERICAN HERALDRY IN COLOR and is the long-running editor of “The Armiger’s News,” and was specialist editor (heraldry) for THE NEW OXFORD DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN ENGLISH (Oxford University Press, 2001).

He is the author/editor of THE SISTER FIDELMA COMPENDIUM: A READER’S GUIDE TO THE SISTER FIDELMA MYSTERIES OF PETER TREMAYNE [Gryfons Publishers, 2022] and SISTER FIDELMA'S BODYGUARDS: WHO WERE THE NASC NIADH IN THE SISTER FIDELMA MYSTERIES OF PETER TREMAYNE? [Phoenix Press, 2022]. He is also co-editor, along with Prof. Edward J. Rielly, of THE SISTER FIDELMA MYSTERIES: ESSAYS ON THE HISTORICAL NOVELS OF PETER TREMAYNE [MacFarland, 2012].

He serves as Executive Director of The American College of Heraldry [Distinguished Fellow [DFACH]; Board of Governors; Executive Director], and Founder/Director of The International Sister Fidelma Society [Webmaster; Editor, "The Brehon," Journal of The International Sister Fidelma Society]. He is also involved in far too many other organizations and societies to list here.

Eclectic fairly well sums up his life to date.

Just remember... Intelligent doesn't have to mean educated. And Creative doesn't have to mean talented.
