Karyn Lynn Newman PhD

Karyn lives in Northern California with her family, flock of chickens, and devoted vizsla. She enjoys inventing and optimizing recipes for preparing the freshest and most delicious food with the least amount of trouble and waste. (Because there are a lot of other amazing things she likes to do, too!) She began her professional life in editing, then embarked on a career in the sciences after earning her PhD in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Research positions at the University of California, Berkeley, brought her to the San Francisco Bay Area, land of 365-day-a-year gardening and unparalleled easy-access natural beauty and creative inspiration. She seriously treasures preparing scrumptious and soul-satisfying food for her family and friends, as well as the simple pleasure of enjoying it together. When not baking she can be found in the garden or on a trail with her boots, bike, or skis and her watercolors.
