Stefan U. Frank – Author, Observer, Storyteller

Born in 1951, Stefan U. Frank lives in Kiel, a city between the coast, everyday life, and his notebook – where his texts take shape: novels, nonfiction, essays – always precise in tone, often surprising in perspective, never preachy.

His life has been shaped by change – both geographical and professional: he has lived in various parts of Germany, trained as a bespoke tailor, written technical manuals, worked in IT, served as a project manager, advised clients as a financial consultant – and spent 17 years traveling across Germany as a disc jockey and entertainer. This diversity informs his writing. His books don’t emerge from an ivory tower, but from lived experience – and a deep curiosity for the human in the everyday.

In recent years, Stefan U. Frank has published regularly via self-publishing – including through KDP/Amazon. His work ranges from profound novels to critical nonfiction to humorous stories in Low German. Though he hasn’t yet found a publisher or literary agent, his body of work speaks for itself: independent, thoughtful, accessible.

Many of his ideas arise while cooking – while slicing onions, when thoughts become sharper, or doing the dishes, when the writing rests in his hands. He observes, takes notes, questions – often quietly, but always with conviction.

His manuscripts are shaped by decades of life experience. Yet he doesn’t see himself as someone who came to writing late – but as someone who took his time. “I’ve got at least twenty books in the drawer,” he says. And he means it not as a threat – but as an invitation.
