I was born in Preston, Lancashire (UK) not quite “when God were a lad.”

Throughout my time on Earth, I have had an unfailing passion for, and delight in, people, creativity, the wonders of the creative mind and keeping ‘shiny’. 🤩

I'm a passionate advocate for youngsters as the true novices on this blue-green marble that we inhabit. 🌍

Story and metaphor have always been my natural means of connecting with others and I find them to be powerful tools for learning and high quality communication, as well as sheer entertainment.

My dubious claim to fame is that I almost killed Stephen Hawking when I was pedalling furiously, woefully late for a lecture at university. Those were the days of flapping robes and intellectual discourse 😉…

Now though, you’re more likely to find me running my spaniels and power walking than in the halls of academia.

That said Dave, as you’ll come to see in the Ruby and Alfie books, is quite the philosopher and he shares his doggy wisdom on our daily excursions!
