The idea for my book, The Quiet Room, took root in 1979 on my first day as a nurse! I met a small cluster of women who had been incarcerated in the large asylum i was working in who were there because they had babies out of wedlock.

After 38 years as a mental health nurse, I decided to pick up my quill and write a fictional journey of one of those women who so inspired me.

I live in beautiful North Wales on a mountain overlooking the sea I love to swim in. After a few false starts, I am very happily married to a Welshman. I have 3 grown up children and 4 wonderful Grandchildren.

I loved writing the Quiet Room. This is my first book and I hope it brings alive the story of Lara and other " moral defectives" who spent their lives banished from society in these places.
