David C. Wareham is an English naturalist, writer, and award-winning nature photographer. As a herpetologist, he specialises in the study of reptiles and amphibians, on the subject of which he has written six books, but he has a keen interest in all forms of life, past and present, from beetles to birds, fungi to fossils, and everything in between. He has contributed numerous articles, scientific papers, chapters and sections to many newspapers, magazines and specialist journals over almost sixty years and was the regular 'Nature Notes' columnist for several publications, including the Manchester Evening News and Lancashire Magazine, between the 1970s and 1990s. In 2008, the British Herpetological Society published his book 'The Reptiles and Amphibians of Dorset', the proceeds from the sale of which are going towards the Society's continued conservation efforts.
An active member of several local and national wildlife and conservation organisations, he is also a Fellow of The Linnean Society of London, the British Naturalists' Association, and the Royal Entomological Society. David's ambition has always been to inspire a greater awareness of the beauty, wonder and fragility of the natural world through his writing and photography..
