Roger Vila is CSIC Researcher at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC-UPF) in Barcelona, where he leads the Butterfly Diversity and Evolution Lab (http://biologiaevolutiva.org/rvila). He has been a passionate lepidopterist since childhood, obtained a PhD in Biochemistry, and tested Vladimir Nabokov's hypotheses on butterflies as a postdoc at Harvard University. Dr. Vila is currently recognised as one of the world’s leading experts in butterfly genetics and speciation. He is National Geographic Explorer and has done numerous scientific expeditions worldwide.
