Hi, my name is Sandra Niche, I have been writing since 2014 when I published my first book Survivor. The book gives an account of how I experienced domestic violence in the home as a child, seeing my mom been battered, and somehow I also experienced it as an adult.
I am originally from the Caribbean. I immigrated to the United Kingdom after fleeing domestic abuse from my first relationship, which the story reflected in chapter 6, " My first Love''. After writing Survivor, I realized no one goes through life without challenges one after the other, so the title "Overcoming''. resonate with me, and that was how the book, Overcoming came about.
The book is geared around shedding light on inter-partner violence which can happen to anyone, and not only leaves the individual with physical scars, but emotionally, mentally, and psychologically, as well.
The book not only filled with events of the writers life, but shows a pattern of behaviour that could considered to be weaknesses that also helps contributed to the catalogue of abuse she encountered.
The book is written in a personal way only to connects with her readers to impacts their emotions for them to feel through reading the book of what a domestic violence environment looks and feels like.
She purposely use languages life "Fight back'', not to to encourage violence, but to to draw the readers attention to intensity the of the physical abuse she endured over the years, this is to evoke the need that she had to defend herself, or else she would end up dead.
The book purposely write to bring awareness, inspire anyone, whether men or women who find themselves in a gender overpowering environment.
There are tips to help the readers identify domestic violence from the perpetrator who uses his behaviour in a subtle way to disguise his objective; to sub-due and control his victim. She hopes someone will find this book not only entertaining but brings awareness and lead someone to a life of freedom.
