I trained as a medical doctor. Although I will always be a physician, I consider myself first and foremost to be an educator. All of my books are, in some shape or form, helping you to learn some new skill. My book, 'Diet to Detox', is helping you to Be Well physically. My latest book, 'Processing Trauma through Breath and Meditation' is helping you to Be Well mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Diet to Detox came about after first helping my children to regain health. I then started helping my patients. I’ve realised during this time that having a healthy gut is crucial to our wellbeing. Symptoms of chronic ill health such as fatigue and aches and pains are due to chronic inflammation. Where does chronic inflammation come from? An unhealthy or ‘leaky’ gut! So, if we correct the gut, the inflammation goes away. But how do we correct the gut? This is the big question, which leads to another question. Why did the gut get sick in the first place? The answer to this is Toxins! Toxins in our environment and in our food help to damage the gut. Dealing with the toxins is the first step on the road to recovery. Adding delicious health-giving fermented foods is the next step. I developed a step-by-step roadmap, to help my patients to embark on the journey back to recovery. Diet to Detox explains these steps in detail, so that you can take that journey yourself. The recipes at the back of the book will greatly assist you along the way. 'Processing Trauma..' came out of my Diet to Detox experience with patients. Even though I felt that I knew which toxins were causing the gut to be sick and I had a step-by-step guide to achieve wellbeing, some patients didn't get better. They seemed to hit 'road blocks' along the Diet to Detox journey. After a while I realised that these road blocks were mental/emotional/spiritual blocks. It was as if the toxins were being held in place by these blocks. I soon came to realise that if I helped the patient remove the block they could easily rejoin the Diet to Detox journey and speed smoothly along on their way to wellbeing. Processing Trauma is a step-by-step guide, using breath and meditation techniques, to help you to access and integrate traumatic experiences that anchor you into ill health.
