Geoffrey K. Pullum

Geoff Pullum is a freelance writer and consultant living in Alexandria, Virginia. His main academic interest is the grammar of English. He is an affiliate faculty member at George Mason University, and was formerly professor of general linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. Before that for many years he was professor of linguistics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His best-known work is The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language (written jointly with Rodney Huddleston and other linguists), which won the Leonard Bloomfield Book Award from the Linguistic Society of America in 2004.
