I am sometimes asked why I chose a career as an illustrator. I can only say that I don’t remember ever choosing

it.. I just never thought about doing anything else. I have memories from a very young age of drawing pictures with my father, who was an artist. He would start by drawing a house or an animal and then we would take turns adding creative details. By the time I was four or five years old I remember spending many happy hours making “picture books” out of scraps of cardboard and paper. My goals have not changed much since then!

Working over 35 years as a freelance illustrator with many late night hours of working while my three children slept, I am now able to enjoy time with four amazing granddaughters and finally realize my goal of writing and illustrating my own children’s books. Children have always been my favorite audience. I enjoy the creative freedom of illustrating for children using color, line and detail that is not so different from the way I started out drawing as a child!
