Kenneth Morrison

Kenneth Morrison is a Professor of History at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. He is the author or co-author of six books including 'War Hotels', 'Reporting the Siege of Sarajevo', 'Nationalism, Identity and Statehood in Post-Yugoslav Montenegro', 'Sarajevo's Holiday Inn: On the Frontline of Politics and War', 'The Sandžak: A History' and 'Montenegro: A Modern History'. He specialises in the modern history of the countries of the Western Balkans. He was a Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords International Relations Committee for their 'UK and the Future of the Western Balkans' inquiry and has been a consultant for a number of international organisations.

Kenneth has a huge interest in hotels and their role in urban conflicts. His latest book 'War Hotels' was co-written by the Lebanese filmmaker and journalist, Abdallah El Binni, and is the result of three years of gathering and collating interviews and filming in Belfast, Sarajevo, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City and Beirut for the Al Jazeera documentary series 'War Hotels' (for which Kenneth was the historical consultant). He has also written a series of articles for Al Jazeera about hotels in conflict zones and is the Co-Director of the Hotel History Foundation, which is based in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
