James Carter

James Carter is an artist and writer based in London. He paints in oil, mostly figures, and is completing his Fine Art and History of Art degree at Goldsmiths.

He is the founder of Creative Flair, a community platform for emerging artists. Through campaigns like The Public Canvas and the annual International Women's Day showcase, the platform has shown the work of hundreds of emerging artists on billboards across London. He runs one-on-one sessions with artists who want practical guidance on getting their work seen.

He writes about the working side of being an artist: photographing work, pitching galleries, building an audience without losing the plot, and the rest of the questions everyone has and nobody answers honestly.

VISIBLE is his first book. It is the conversation he keeps having with artists at the start, written down so more people can read it.

He drinks too much coffee, is bad at mornings, and is happiest in front of a canvas or a blank page.
