Marisa Wray

Marisa Wray studied medicine at Somerville College, Oxford and completed a PhD in neuroscience between junior doctor jobs. She was the first in her family to show any aptitude for science and always thought that becoming a doctor would be a Good Thing. She finally found her niche in psychiatry and now combines her work as a consultant psychiatrist for older people with running the psychiatry programme for medical students at her NHS Trust and directing year 3 at Lancaster Medical School. In her spare time she loves to read, write, paint, sew, crochet, run, climb, hike, wild swim and go on adventures. She is insatiably curious. The three most challenging things she has had to deal with in life have been recurrent depression, childlessness and breast cancer. So far she has survived them all. She lives near Kendal on the edge of the UK Lake District with her husband and her cat.
