Carol Joy

Carolina Smales, artistically known as Carol Joy, is an American-Venezuelan author, singer-songwriter, and chemical engineer who, after many years of working in public health and brain science, one day decided to use her artistic skills and knowledge to promote health, in a innovative way. As a child, other kids used to call Carol a "nerdy brain," which hurt her feelings, but she has learned to accept her unique talents as invaluable strengths. Carol uses her nerdy brain to create stories and songs, available in English and Spanish to spread joy, promote loving human interactions, positive emotions, and encourage imagination. In this way, Carol seeks to engage children, starting in elementary school, on exciting learning journeys about the nature of their brains- minds and emotions- to give them important life skills, such as how to manage anxiety in a fun and natural way.
