A. K. Thorne is an author of English and Welsh heritage who grew up in the idyllic seaside town of Lowestoft. With a childhood love of literature, he spent much of his youth writing poetry. Thorne always wanted to be a novelist, but doubted his ability to advance beyond writing poetry. After over ten years of working in care and supporting people with learning difficulties, Thorne developed back issues, forcing him to abandon his occupation. Utilising the funds he had saved from his care job, Thorne decided to take a risk and began work on his first book, The Heart of Hiraeth.
