Chhandak Basu

Dr. Chhandak Basu is a Professor of Biology at the California State University, Northridge. He also holds a Research Affiliate position at NASA-Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is trained as a plant and microbial biotechnologist. His research focuses on how plants and microbes can survive in environmental stressful conditions. At NASA, his research is centered on the topic of astrobiology and space biology. At NASA he studies how extremophile microbes can survive in planetary analog field sites. He is a recipient of the national award Biology Mentor Award given by the Council on Undergraduate Research, Washington, DC.
